As we go from the year 2016 to the year 2017 we are in that special time of year called: The Holiday Season. One of the greatest places to be for the Holiday Season is of course that famed city - New York City. It is the time of year when The City goes Electric. There is so much to see. You could go to the "Winter Village" and visit the little specialty gift shops in Bryant Park at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue, Avenue of the Americas. They also have a nice size Free Admission ice skating rink there that welcomes you to skate at no charge if you bring your own skates. There are ice skate rentals there as well if you don't happen to have ice skates with you.
A little stroll on 6th Avenue to the upper 40's and 50th Street brings you to more fun Holiday Decorations on the Avenue. You'll see a string of Huge Christmas Lights right on the sidewalk on the west side of 6th Avenue, the pyramid of Red Monster Size Chirstmas Ball Tree Decorations in front of the Chase building, the Christmas Tree on the marquee at Radio City Music Hall that changes color all night, and don't forget the Holiday Train across the street from Radio City. The most well known Holiday Season icon in New York City is the Rockefeller Center Holiday Christmas Tree between 49th and 50th Streets just off Fifth Avenue. At that same location on Fifth Avenue is the Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Light Show outside the department store, along with their magical Holiday Store Windows and magnificent Enchanted Castle that covers the whole front of the building. All of it is Free !
If you want to spice the Holiday Season up a little you could get a few show tickets and, just up the block, have an experience you will never forget - The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. A little trip downtown to the southern tip of Manhattan brings you to the Seaglass Carousel in Battery Park. And a ride across New York Harbor on the Staten Ferry is always a fun thing to do. It cruises passed the Statue of Liberty and allows for a breathtaking view of Manhattan from the water's edge. And the Staten Island Ferry is free also, no charge. The ride across the Harbor is only 30 minutes each way there and back. If you want to really have a Big Picture Experience - you can go to the top of the World Trade Center Building at 1 World Trade Center to the One World Observatory and on a clear night see Forever.
"New York City. The City of the World." Definitely "The City of Wonder" !!!
